Scrappin' for the Cause!

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
~Howard Thurman

We are scrapbooking for the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer foundation this weekend - $10 of the crop fee will be donated to the foundation. We started at 6pm last night and went till 2am - some of us even slept in the store! ScrapPink is a nation wide benefit crop going on at scrapbook stores all over the country this weekend. My best buddy, Donna Jean is hosting one at her store County Purr Farm in Carson City, NV. All the gals are starting to roll back in for another fun day of scrappin', BINGO, prizes and Shawna's famous tacos for lunch!

Final note from today, I had my Moscow Scrap Kit Club today. I now have 14 gals in my club and they are all so talented, creative and fun! I love seeing what everyone does with the same scrapbook supplies. A lot of the gals hung around after club and shopped, worked on pages and visited with each other. Just a really great group of women!

I scrapbooked!

I could keep on scrappin' or I could go to bed, but then what would I do with all these layouts in my head? ~Author Unknown, "My Addiction"

Got to scrapbook tonight with Shawna. I have started to do some pages in 8 1/2 x 11 and am loving it. I just put them right into my 12x12 d-ring album and they look so cool. I was inspired by Tami V - she scrapbooks both sizes and loves it. I don't have my scanner hooked up yet, so I took photos of my layouts and the color is a bit off! I have started an album just for ME and I am having a really good time doing layouts just for me. AND, the cool handmade buttons on the bottom layout are from London T - she made them from Bazzill Chips!

Household Photo Safari Challenge

Photography is a means of recording forever
the things one sees for a moment.~Aaron Sussman

I'm starting to get more comfortable with my digital camera! I have been taking more pictures with my camera NOT on automatic. I am playing around with the ISO option and adjusting my F- stops and all that technical stuff! It is really fun! I love the instant feedback I can get with the digital camera and uploading them to the computer. If the first set of pictures don't turn o
ut, I just pop the card back in and try again. Here are some of the photos I took on Sunday around the house.

How about a challenge? Take photos of items around your house, experiment with your camera and post your photos on your blog. Comment to this post that you have done so and we can all share!

Not enough time...

Those that make the best use of their time have none to spare. ~Thomas Fuller

Well today was a very busy day. The store was hoppin' in Moscow and I had a few orders come in that needed to be received, priced, split up and put out! Dave has the week off, so he brought me my lunch; leftover chili with cheese,
sour cream and some tortilla chips...YUM. He has too many vacation days saved up, so he just decided to take the week off and get some work done around the house.

It was pretty steady at the store. Monday's are double punch days so we get pretty busy and the day just flew by. We had our Card Party at 6:30 with 10 really fun ladies. I think we will add on a kids version of the Card Party the same night and time - we have two teens that have been coming and have had a few other teens ask if they can come, so I think we will have a separate group just for kids ages 11-16. It was fun to watch the ladies making cards and visiting with each other.

I sold two more kits on Etsy! Very excited about that. I have a bunch more to add to my store - just need more time in the day to get things done. Well my time is up and I'm off to bed!

Sunday afternoons at home

There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort.
~Jane Austen

I love Sunday afternoons! Everyone helped clean up the house. Dave and Ryan are off on a hike. I started a pot of chili in the crockpot. Jared is watching a movie on IFC. The dogs are sleeping in a sunny spot by the door. Wish everyday could be a "Sunday afternoon."

Everyone knows your name...

Makin' your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
Takin' a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.
Wouldn't you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go, where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same,
You wanna be where everybody knows your name.
You wanna go where people know, people are all the same,
You wanna go where everybody knows your name.
Cheers Theme Song -

Remember this show from the 80's? I think the Paper Pals stores are a lot like the Cheers bar! Our customers know us by name and we know a lot of them by name. It is a gathering place for women of all ages to create, get inspired and record their life stories! We get to find out who has had a new baby, a new grandchild, who has suffered a loss, a new job or is moving away! It is so neat to see our customers run into friends they have not seen in awhile and they catch up on each others lives. It is amazing to me how a stranger becomes a new friend after their first visit! This is the kind of business I have worked so hard to create - a place where we really get to KNOW each other - we SHARE our lives with each other and we are always GLAD you came!
